Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) was created to serve the Prison Service and its officers in multiple ways, ranging from consultation at the strategic level about issues within the Prison Service, to individual assistance to officers and their family members experiencing personal difficulties.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Mission Statement

To help improve and/or maintain the productivity and healthy functioning of the Prison Service through the application of specialized knowledge and expertise about human behavior and mental health.

To ensure that the Prison Service is able to fulfill its obligations through its officers by ensuring they have the wherewithal to use their skills, training and experience notwithstanding any personal problems that may negatively affect their abilities.

Job Security

An officer’s job security and promotional opportunities will not be affected by seeking assistance from the Employees Assistance Programme (EAP).

No information concerning an officer’s call will be given to anyone whatsoever without their consent and all records remain the property of the EAP (external agency) and will be kept strictly confidential; neither will any Information be noted in any official records of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.

Confidentiality

Enquiries and requests of a personal nature will be handled with a high level of sensitivity, and great measures will be made to ensure the officer’s confidentiality.
