Thanksgiving and Prayer for 1st Working Day at Prison Service

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service celebrated the start of the new year with an Interfaith Thanksgiving & Worship Service at the Youth Training Centre, House Of God Chapel, on Wednesday 2nd January, 2019.
This year’s service was entitled ‘Giving Thanks with a Grateful Heart’ and featured praise and worship offerings by officers of Prison Service and specially invited guests.
Attending the Annual Service were Commissioner of Prisons (Ag.) Mr. Gerard Wilson, senior members of the Prison Service along with officers, civilian staff and external stakeholders including Ms Safiya Noel, Director of the Children’s Authority, Mr Sitram Persad, Director of Education – YTC and Reverend Parks of COPCAM, among others.
Commissioner Wilson reiterated the need for compassion in the commission of one’s duty when he said “We in the Prison Service must give thanks and we must start each year in prayer. The challenges we faced in 2018 have tested us. The challenge for 2019 is to care more for our fellow man. The motto for 2019 is the Year to Care! “
Ms. Safiya Noel commended the T&T Prison Service for its decision to start every year by giving thanks. She extended her appreciation to the T&T Prison Service for its partnership with the Children’s Authority in the protection of the nation’s greatest resource, its children.
This Annual Thanksgiving Service serves to encourage and bless the officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service who generously devote themselves to helping and caring for their their charges.
