The Trinidad and Tobago Prisons Service Band was started in 1978. It was the result of the enthusiasm of a few officers, who were musically inclined and felt that the Prisons Service needed a Band. Today, the Prison Service Band boasts of an extensive repertoire of songs inclusive of various classical and modern genres of music. It is consists of a mix of full time band members and auxiliary band members who augment the strength of the band, dependent of the nature of event at which the band is required to play.

The band is currently under the baton of POII Band Master R. Hassanali.
